We had a very exciting time on February 26 & 27, 2020 in doing an experimental immersive audio recording session with Classical composer Hauke Berheide and director-writer Amy Stebbins. The artists are planning to explore the operatic potential of innovative and immersive media technologies so that they can add new types of stagings and sceneries to their opera “Mauerschau”, which was premiered at the Bavarian State Opera in 2016 and awarded the Festival Prize of the Munich Opera Festival.

The session took place at the Theater Duisburg in cooperation with the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of the conductor Roland Böer. The purpose was to enable placing the orchestra and the singers freely in an immersive spatial environment, so that the composer as well as the director can “play” with the sound and the performers.
